West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force

The West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force (WCSETF) website features a comprehensive compilation of smoke exposure and wildfire resources from universities, government and industry groups. Growers, winemakers and others serving the industry can utilize this easy-to-navigate website for helpful information. The website is a work in progress and new resources will be added periodically.

Background

In recent years, wildfires near winegrowing regions in California, Oregon and Washington caused significant concerns and impacts for growers and wineries related to the effects of smoke exposure on grapes and wine quality. WCSETF formed in March 2019, and since then, industry groups and university researchers have collaborated to produce valuable resources to address concerns and issues related to smoke exposure. The purpose of the task force is to develop and share information of interest to industry groups, growers and winemakers operating in the three West Coast states and to speak with a unified industry voice in the area of research.

Website Funding

The website is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service
